Japanese Carp – Lunar New Year
Japanese Carp – Lunar New Year
Bellagio Las Vegas
Task: The creation of a giant Japanese carp.
Challenge: The fish had to be completely waterproof, as it would be installed in a pond.
Our solution: With 3D printing, the base material is plastic, which by definition is water-repellent. Modeling the fish on the computer gave us greater flexibility in adjusting the position. 3D printing also makes it easy to print out parts of the sculpture, at real or reduced scale, to validate the position or the expected outcome. This is an ideal alternative to the traditional fiberglass technique.
